Exhibition: "The Wedding of the Century in philately and numismatics"

From 13 July to 15 October 2026 at the Museum of Stamps and Coins, to mark the 70th anniversary of this historic event, the museum invites  visitors to rediscover one of the most defining moments in the Principality's contemporary history through the lens of philately and numismatics.

The Princely wedding, which united Prince Rainier III and American actress Grace Kelly, attracted unprecedented international attention. Followed by millions of people around the world, it made a lasting contribution to Monaco's international profile and inspired an extensive range of commemorative items, which today stand as remarkable witnesses to their time.

The exhibition brings together an outstanding collection of commemorative medals, postage stamps, First Day Covers, souvenir cards, philatelic documents and heritage objects, illustrating how this exceptional event was celebrated and preserved in the collective memory.

This new exhibition builds on the section devoted to the Belle Époque of philately, presented at the Prince's Palace. Far beyond their documentary value, these pieces highlight the essential role of philately and numismatics in preserving and transmitting history and cultural heritage.
